"El Mallín" is a family restaurant that opens its doors out of love for gastronomy, Patagonia, and service, with the aim of making guests feel, in the words of its owners, "like at home." It is located in the building where the family’s carpentry stood 40 years ago, at the foot of the wetlands where they grew up.
WHY “EL MALLÍN”?
A “mallín” is a wetland, a geographical feature whose surface is either permanently or intermittently flooded. In Patagonia, which is windy and generally dry, it symbolizes abundance and holds great environmental value due to the animal and plant biodiversity it shelters. Due to its favorable conditions, it also serves as a community hub for local producers.
Beyond being our home, the mallín is a symbol of life, where we live out our passion day by day. Surrounded by nature, we find our identity here, which we strive to reflect in our dishes, creating a Patagonian cuisine committed to the region.
Come and enjoy our mountain dishes, surrounded by this Patagonian treasure.
RESTAURANT-MUSEUM
In addition to Patagonian cuisine and experiences, at El Mallín, you will find a “restaurant-museum.” Our walls and corners tell our story and Patagonia’s story through antiques (including crafts, accessories, and machines) that "Bebe," the carpenter and father of Tatu and José, collected throughout his life. This well-preserved, neat setting conveys the value of the Mallín and its family for craftsmanship and durability. It imparts the feeling of home, where moments of connection and quality are lived, where time and the passage of time are treasured.
